Description
Born under the sun of Qawzah, a village in southern Lebanon, this "premium" version of zaatar contains no oregano flowers.
Wild oregano, growing in the Lebanese mountains, is carefully hand-picked at the beginning of summer, then dried in the shade for several days. Hand-picked, combined with sesame and sumac, both strictly selected.
With its salty, grilled notes enhanced by a touch of acidity, zaatar sprinkles a pinch of the Orient on pizzas, grilled meats, and salads. Infused with olive oil, it deliciously dresses a slice of toast. It also expresses itself in contact with dairy products: cottage cheese, mozzarella, feta, labneh... This mixture of spices and aromatics also goes very well with lamb, skewers, or grilled meat or fish. Cordon bleus eager to escape will sprinkle their "manoushés," juicy Levantine pancakes! For those intrepid in the kitchen: it can also be used as a sweet treat on a crumble, a tart, or with chocolate.
Don't hesitate to offer zaatar at Easter with lamb recipes, as a marinade on a leg of lamb or simply sprinkled over chops, it works wonders!
Located in southern Lebanon, the Qawzah cooperative prepares this delicious zaatar with love and passion.
From breakfast to dinner, at any time of day, zaatar brings color and flavor to your preparations!
